Liz Taylor as Cleopatra. If only Cleopatra lived in Hollywood in 1963. The costumes were designed by Irene Sharaff. Read here for an interesting passage on the Cleopatra costume on stage and in film.

Betty Nguyen, Creative Director of First Person Magazine, with Adam
Iscoff-Daigian, Contributing Photographer, pictured above in front of
First Person’s mega-zine installation on Taylor and Eddy St in San
Francisco’s Tenderloin District.
Nguyen’s installation was selected by a juried panel and funded by the
Mayor’s office to create a dialogue with the Vietnamese community
inhabiting the neighborhood. Her wall-sized poster-zine features
interviews and works by contemporary Vietnamese creatives like United
Bamboo’s, Thuy Pham, a founding member of the Bernadette Corporation
artist collective and photographer Duc Liao, as well as personal video
footage she paired with an intriguing written narrative recounting her
own experiences and encounters while visiting Vietnam, titled “Now and
Then”.
Installation will be up through January 5, 2010.
